February 19th, 2020
Indianapolis, Ind. – The Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series today announced plans for the organization’s 30th Anniversary Luncheon; scheduled for February 18, 2020, at the Indiana Roof Ballroom, which will feature keynote remarks by Governor Eric J. Holcomb.
“I am thrilled to join the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series to celebrate this important milestone,” said Governor Holcomb. “The Lugar Series is one of Senator Lugar’s most enduring legacies and for three decades has inspired and empowered generations of Hoosier women to serve their community, state, and country.”
In addition to celebrating the landmark 30th anniversary, the luncheon will recognize the latest Lugar Series class which consists of 20 accomplished women hailing from 14 counties across Indiana along with the 529 alumni to date. The 2020 annual luncheon will mark the first since Senator Lugar’s death in 2019.
The Lugar Series also announced plans to recognize Gail Lowry with the 2020 Nancy A. Maloley Outstanding Public Service Award. Lowry is a 1992 graduate of the Lugar Series and was a longtime trusted staffer for Senator Richard Lugar. Today, she serves as the Chief Philanthropy Officer for Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana.
“It was the privilege of my life to have had the opportunity to work closely with Senator Lugar and see first-hand the profound impact he had on our state and country,” said Lowry. “To humbly accept an award named for a fellow Lugar staffer and legend-in-her-own-right Nancy A. Maloley is an honor.”
